About

Here's the honest version of how this started.

I used to live in a high-rise in downtown Chicago. My view was the skyline — glass, lights, thirty-some floors up, the kind of view people photograph from hotel rooms. I loved it, for a long time.

Then life moved me to a small town in Indiana, onto a piece of land with grass instead of concrete. I thought I'd miss the skyline. Instead, the view became my dog, whatever showed up in the yard that morning — deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, the occasional eagle, moles doing their best to ruin the lawn — and sunsets I never had to go looking for. I didn't expect any of it to compete with thirty stories of glass. It did. Some nights, it still surprises me that it does.

What I don't miss is the noise. The quiet out here is what actually calmed my mind, and that's the real reason both the YouTube channel and this store exist — not as a brand concept, but because I kept noticing things worth stopping for.

Every photo you see here is mine — most of it shot right here on this property, in Indiana, nothing staged. I travel sometimes too, and it turns out the habit doesn't stay home: I notice the same kind of thing wherever I go, so expect this shop to grow past just my own backyard eventually. But the rule stays the same — every print started as something I actually stood and watched, not a stock photo or someone else's shot. A deer in the yard, a sunset over a field, a dog who refuses to take anything seriously. Look a little longer at any of it, and you'll see why.
